Therapy for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners

When you built the company yourself, it can be hard to tell where it ends and you begin.

When Your Identity and Your Company Grow Together

Building something of your own asks for a kind of commitment few jobs require. Over the years, the company can become more than work. It becomes a measure of your judgment, your worth, and your future. When things go well, that closeness can feel energizing. When revenue dips, a key person leaves, or a plan fails, it can feel personal in a way that is hard to explain to anyone who has not been there. In therapy, we can gently separate who you are from how the company is doing this quarter, without diminishing how much it matters to you.

Carrying the Risk Alone

You may be the person who makes payroll, signs the lease, answers to customers, and absorbs the uncertainty so that others do not have to. Much of that weight is invisible. Your team may see your confidence, and the people at home may see your fatigue, but few people see the full picture. Carrying risk alone can quietly shape your sleep, your patience, and your ability to be present anywhere else. Therapy offers a private place to set it down for an hour, look at it honestly, and consider what support would actually help.

Riding the Highs and Lows

Entrepreneurial life rarely moves in a straight line. A strong month can bring relief that disappears as soon as the next worry arrives. A setback can reopen old doubts about whether you are good enough. You may notice your mood rising and falling with the numbers, or find that success no longer feels like much. We can look at those swings with curiosity, including the beliefs about achievement, control, and failure that may be driving them. Understanding that pattern can make the difficult months easier to weather and the good ones easier to enjoy.

Boundaries When You Are Always On

When the company lives on your phone, the day has no natural end. Messages arrive at dinner, decisions follow you to bed, and time off can feel irresponsible. Over time, that constant availability can wear down your health and your closest relationships. In therapy, we can examine what makes limits hard to hold, whether it is fear, habit, or a sense that everything depends on you, and practice boundaries that protect both your work and the rest of your life. You may also find Therapy for Work-Life Balance and burnout and chronic stress useful.

When a Venture Ends or Changes

Selling, closing, merging, or stepping back from a company can bring an unexpected sense of loss, even when it is the right decision. You may grieve the role, the team, or the version of yourself the company allowed you to be. You may feel relief and guilt at the same time. These mixed feelings deserve room. Therapy can help you understand what the change means for your identity and what you want next. You can read more about career and life transitions and grief.

Therapy, Not Strategy Advice

My background includes more than twenty years in communications and behavioral consulting, so the language of growth, risk, and stakeholders is familiar to me. Our sessions, though, are not a strategy meeting. Therapy focuses on your mental health, your patterns, and the relationships that matter to you, with practical tools for regulation, communication, and boundaries when they help.

Sessions take place in person at FUSE WorkSpace on West Highway 290 in Southwest Austin or by secure video anywhere in Texas, in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. A free 15-minute consultation is a simple way to see whether the approach fits.
