Language is Part of the Therapeutic Relationship
Fluent therapy is more than translating words. Language carries rhythm, culture, humor, family meanings, and ways of understanding emotion. You may think professionally in English but feel more naturally in Spanish or Portuguese. You may move between languages depending on the memory or relationship being discussed. Sessions can follow that movement without requiring you to flatten your experience into one vocabulary.
A Multicultural Perspective
I am originally from Venezuela and have lived in Austin, Miami, Panama City, Rio de Janeiro, Caracas, London, and Paris. Relocating internationally five times has deepened my respect for the ways culture, adaptation, belonging, and identity shape mental health. I do not assume that shared language means identical experience. I bring genuine curiosity to your particular history and the contexts that have formed you.

Care for a Life Lived Across Contexts
Multilingual professionals may carry different expectations across family, work, and community. Migration can bring possibility alongside grief, dislocation, role changes, and pressure to adapt quickly. Therapy can help you understand how these experiences intersect with mood, relationships, identity, and the demands of high-responsibility environments. The goal is not to choose one part of yourself over another, but to create room for a more integrated experience.
Start in the Language That Feels Right
A free 15-minute consultation is available to discuss what brings you here and whether my approach aligns with what you need. You may request English, Spanish, or Portuguese when you reach out. Therapy is available only while you are located in Texas, either through secure telehealth or in person at the Southwest Austin office.
Between Languages, Between Worlds
Living across languages can mean translating not only words but expectations. You may be assertive in one language and deferential in another, humorous in one and formal in another. Those differences are meaningful clinical information, not inconsistencies. Noticing where you feel most yourself, and where you feel constrained, can reveal a great deal about identity, belonging, and the environments that shape you.
Family, Distance, and Obligation
Many multilingual professionals carry responsibilities across borders: aging parents, relatives who depend on support, and relationships maintained through screens and infrequent visits. Distance can bring guilt, worry, and grief that has no clear ending. Therapy can hold these realities alongside daily demands, helping you set sustainable limits without abandoning the people and places that formed you.
What to Expect in Session
You are welcome to begin in whichever language feels most natural and to change mid-sentence if that is how you think. Some clients use English for work-related material and their first language for family and early memories. Sessions are available in person in Southwest Austin or by secure telehealth anywhere in Texas, and the consultation is a good place to see how the language mix feels in practice.
